We are delighted to announce that Greg Yates, a member of the Trust’s board since 2007, has been selected as your new Chairman of the Board. Greg’s life-long connection to Shenandoah National Park and his business acumen position him well to advance the Trust’s critical work. Born and raised in Culpeper, Virginia, Greg’s love of the park started at an early age on regular day trips to Shenandoah with his family; “I found out later that my grandfather, Conner Yates, was an early donor purchasing 5 acres for $30 in 1925 to help establish the park,” Greg shared.
Greg owns and manages Yates Properties, LC, a real estate brokerage firm managing over 200 residential and commercial properties in Central Virginia. He also serves as the principal for Deer Ridge Development, Inc., a property development firm engaged in building and restoring commercial and residential properties. Greg is a former member of the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors and currently serves on the Commonwealth Transportation Board via an appointment by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Greg is married to Liz Yates. Their home in Culpeper offers a sweeping panoramic view of Shenandoah National Park.
