You can help us connect children to Shenandoah National Park…not through an “app”….not through a YouTube video…but through songwriting.
Thanks to a partnership with Kid Pan Alley and the National Endowment for the Arts, we are creating song-writing residencies in elementary schools around the region. The program launches with a field trip to Shenandoah National Park. For many students, this will be their first time in their park.
Back at school, students put pen to paper to reflect on their experiences. And then they really get to work. Working with professional songwriters, the students transform their words into music. The collaborative songwriting process teaches about teamwork and valuing ideas and emotions. The children perform their original songs at school-wide and community-wide concerts. Imagine the feeling of accomplishment these children get by writing, producing and performing their own masterpieces. Please help us support this project.
