Living near the Everglades as a child was Janet Eden’s first exposure to national parks, and she has been a fan ever since. Yosemite, Rocky Mountain, Great Smokies and of course, Shenandoah, are among her favorite destinations. In fact, her decision to move to Central Virginia in 2008 was based in part on its proximity to Shenandoah National Park.
“One of the best features of Shenandoah,” says Janet, “is that it is a long, linear park and the resources and facilities are spread out. That gives it a less crowded feel than some other parks. You can really experience quiet and solitude.” She also notes the awe-inspiring views, unique rock formations, well-maintained trails and superior park staff and interpretive programs among her favorite features.
Janet has chosen to express her affection for Shenandoah National Park by supporting the Trust. “I enjoy every day that I spend in our park,” she comments. “It is exciting to hear about the projects the Trust is working to fund and to see them come to fruition. It is deeply satisfying to know that I helped bring those projects to life.”
As you make your year-end charitable giving decisions, we hope that you, like Janet, will make a commitment to supporting your park through the Trust.
